Hi friend! I hope you are having a fabulous week.
In my introduction post, I mentioned recently accepting a social media coordinator position with the Houston Texans (🥳). I am so THRILLED and EXCITED to be a part of the Texans family. This past week was my first week on the job and I am going to document it here with you!
My high for the week: My high for the week was starting my first (and new) job! I literally could not sleep the night before my first day. This was everything I dreamed of (and more)! I was so excited to wake up and get ready to go to work and meet my new team. When I got to work, I sat at my desk for the first time and there was a welcome letter and a backpack full of goodies waiting there for me! I felt so loved and celebrated. This is a recurring feeling that I have felt throughout my first week. My team had lunch with me on my first day and everyone I have met has been so welcoming.
One of my friends texted me asking how my first day of work went and I told her that I could not wait to go back for my second day. I am so thankful for this opportunity. I have peace knowing that this is where I am supposed to be.
As a goodbye gift one of my former coworkers gave me a beautiful navy jumpsuit and I wore it for my first day of work! Here is a picture of my first day of work outfit (with the thrill of it all, I totally forgot to get a great picture of myself on the first day):

One thing I am thankful for: It is so hard for me to name just one thing I am thankful for, so here is a list of three things:
- I am so thankful for my dad! He has been here in Houston with me to help get me settled. He has been such a trooper in making sure that I am settled and comfortable in my new home.
- I am so incredibly thankful for every single person that has added to my journey. Something that has helped me tons throughout my career is my mentors! They have given me great perspective, and wisdom and offer incredible advice. I have learned how to operate with grace and dedication from my mentors. I am so so so thankful to have such wise people in my corner cheering me on.
- I am also so thankful for my new team. They are such kind people and have created such a positive environment. I am so honored that I get that opportunity to work, create and collaborate with them!
One thing I am proud of: Looking back on all of the sacrifices that I have made to work in sports, I am proud of how far I have come. This journey has not always been easy. There have been sleepless nights, tears and multiple 4-and-a-half-hour drives back to South Florida. I have said no to going out with my friends, committing to social plans, and having the ‘typical’ college life. But it has all been so worth it – I wouldn’t change a thing. Something I have learned along the way is that not everyone is going to understand you or your dreams – and that’s okay! It has taken time and is something that I have to remind myself of daily.
When I reflect on my career so far, I remember watching college football on Saturdays and the NFL on Sundays with my dad and brothers. My homework schedule even revolved around the football games that I wanted to watch. Fast forward several years, and I am now working in the NFL. Talk about a full-circle moment!
For Context:
I moved to Houston on Sunday, April 2nd and had my first day of work on Monday, April 3rd! It was such a fast turnaround. I packed up all of my life in Gainesville into my SUV in the timespan of a week and drove 12 hours to Houston with my dad. While I was packing up my apartment in Gainesville, I was also (and still am) going to school full-time and I was finishing up my internship with Inter Miami CF. With a lot going on and a lot of moving parts, I want to be intentional about this season in my life. I don’t want to miss a moment. I want to cherish every single second, every opportunity and every learning experience.
Side note: shoutout to my family, I am so thankful for them and their sacrifice to help me chase my dreams.

That’s all for my first week in review! Keep showing up.
See you next time,
Ari
